Pager Troubleshooting Guide


To assist you in resolving your most common paging problems, RCS has formed the following Pager Troubleshooting Guide. Simply follow the instructions below and record the results of each check as your perform it. When you complete all the steps, contact us and report your results. We will then gladly assist you in resolving your paging problem.


Check Pager
  • Turn the pager off and then on again to ensure that you hear the power-on beep.

  • Make sure the battery is not dead, and check that it is inserted correctly.

  • Ensure that the pager is free of physical or water damage.



Check Paging Service

Using the Internet
Enter your pager number in the textbox below that corresponds to the type of pager you have. After you click "Send", record what the following page says.

In a minute, you should receive a page that says "0123456789".

       One-Way Pager

       Two-Way Pager  


Using the Phone
Dial your pager number and send a test message to yourself. If the test message fails, record which one of the following indications occured.
  • An automated voice response. (Note the message)

  • A tone.

  • Silence.

  • A constant or intermittent busy.





Check Coverage
For your pager to work you must be inside the paging coverage area. Select the paging plan you use to view the map, and note whether you are inside or outside the paging coverage area. Also note if you are inside a building.
